Biography

Leonard Genova holds the unprecedented distinction as the only individual in the history of the NFF&CHF to serve simultaneously as president of three chapters.

A resident of Massapequa Park, New York, Genova's lifelong connection and love for the game of football is evident in his dedication and effort to promoting the ideals of The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. As an offensive lineman at Columbia University, Genova lettered from 1982-1984 and was named team captain, first team All-Ivy League and Honorable Mention Associated Press All-America as a senior. He also coached football for five different schools on both, the high school and college levels. Following graduation from Columbia in 1985, Genova obtained his Law degree in 1989 from St. John's University.

From 1990-92, Genova worked at Pan American World Airways, Inc. as a Labor Relations Representative. In 1992, he began working for the town of Oyster Bay, a large suburban municipality consisting of 300,000 residents, in a variety of capacities, including deputy town attorney, director of operations and special counsel to the supervisor. He currently serves as the deputy supervisor and functions as the chief operating officer of a municipal corporation with over 1,200 employees and a budget of $150 million.

Every time the NFF develops a new program Genova seems to be involved. When the acclaimed Play It Smart Program was unveiled, he was tabbed for a key role in its implementation in New York City, overseeing the administration of an NFF grant to two high schools participating in the pilot program. In 1997 and 1998, he was the New York local event director for the NFL's Air-It-Out Four on Four Flag Football Tournament. Two years later, he served as the national director for the pilot phase of the NFL/NFF Coaching Academy.

To lead three chapters, Genova has successfully mobilized a core group of community-minded individuals that shares his same passion, making his chapters some of the most active in the country, holding several events and awarding over $25,000 in scholarships each year.

Len and his wife, Stephanie, have two sons.
