Biography

Northeast Indiana Chapter President Matt Hatfield's energy and creative leadership motivates the chapter to play a positive role in the game of amateur football throughout the Greater Fort Wayne area.

Under Hatfield's leadership, the chapter stages an annual awards banquet that bonds together all levels of the game from the entire Northeast section of the State of Indiana. The chapter awards several thousand dollars annually to high school students who have excelled not only on the gridiron but, more importantly, in the classroom and in their respective communities. In the spring of 2004, Hatfield established the Jeffrey Howard Courage Award in honor of a 13-year old football player from the Fort Wayne Metro Youth League who suffered from a rare form of brain cancer. In addition to creating the award, Hatfield also served as a mentor and friend to the young man who passed away a few months after being honored at the chapter's banquet.

Hatfield and the chapter help to promote the annual Central Indiana NFL/NFF Coaching Academy held at the Colts training facility in Indianapolis, and organize and sponsor other youth football initiatives. As chapter president, Hatfield guides the chapter in their efforts to distribute NFL youth grant money to area football leagues.

A 1992 graduate of DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, Hatfield was a four-year member and three-year letter winner for the Tigers as an offensive lineman. He is a volunteer for the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce and received their Excellence Award in 2003 for recruiting new corporate memberships. He works as an insurance agent specializing in Employer Sponsored Group Health Insurance Plans, a job he has held for ten years. Hatfield also teaches Junior Achievement classes in Economics to area high school students.

Matt currently resides in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
