Biography

An exceptional football player who once scored six touchdowns in a championship game, Matt Rothe also stood out as a student. He ranked first in his Fort Morgan High (Colo.) class with a 4.5 GPA. A National Honor Society member, his many academic accolades include the Bausch and Lomb Science Award, the Alpha Honor Roll, the Tri-Valley Academic Achievement Award and the Colorado High School Athletic Association Academic All-State Award. He played both tailback and defensive back. In his senior year, he rushed for 2,240 yards, scored 29 touchdowns and pulled in 18 pass receptions for 325 yards. For two consecutive years, Rothe received all-state honors from both the Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain News. He was named to the Tri-Valley Northern All-Conference Team twice and was his league’s Athlete of the Year as a senior. Rothe graduated with a degree in geology from Dartmouth College, and he later earned his MBA at Stanford University. In 2013, after working years in sustainability, he co-founded FEED Collaborative, which focuses on solving the food system’s most challenging issues.
