Biography
Farrior was the Captain of the 1916 University of Florida Gators football team and over his years of dedication to the community of Gators and the state of Florida, Farrior became one of the most respected men in Tampa.
Farrior also attended law school at the University of Florida, and served as an assistant coach to Major James Van Fleet for the Gators. He became a member of one of the city’s largest and most successful law firms – Shackleford and Farrior.
His impact in Tampa and beyond led him to be inducted into the Florida Sports Hall of Fame. Farrior also held the distinction of coaching high school football teams from which two College Football Hall of Fame Athletes sprung – Dale Van Sickel (Florida) and Jack McDowall (North Carolina State). Farrior passed away on Aug.22, 1999, of a heart attack.
