Biography

Stephen Alexander was an All-America high school football player and an equally outstanding student at Chickasha High School (Okla.). A three year starter at tight end and defensive end, he was named Super Prep Magazine National High School Player of the Year, USA TODAY All-America, and he won the Jim Thorpe Award as Oklahoma’s outstanding football player. Alexander compiled a 3.80 GPA, and he ranked 12th in his class of 130.

He was a member of the National Honor Society and the Student Advisory Council. In his senior year, he was also named to the Principal Honor Roll and the Superintendent Honor Roll. Among his other football awards, Alexander was named to the Blue Chip All-America Dream Team, the ESPN All-America Team and the Schutt All-America team.

Alexander totaled 104 career receptions for 1,591 yards with six touchdowns at the University of Oklahoma. Following an outstanding senior season, Alexander picked up second-team All-Big 12 Conference honors. He was a first-team All-Big 8 Conference selection as a sophomore, leading the conference’s tight ends in receptions with 43 grabs for 580 yards and two touchdowns. 

Alexander played 10 seasons in the NFL with the Redskins, Chargers, Lions and Broncos, racking up 247 catches for 2,519 yards and 14 touchdowns. Alexander was a Pro Bowl selection in 2000 while with the Redskins.
