NFF Chapter Leadership Award Recipients
Biography
You will not find a bigger football fan in the country than Antonia “Toni” Goodin. Her affinity with the game started in Logansport, La., where she was a cheerleader at Logansport High School, and her involvement continues to this day.
Following high school, Goodin earned a degree in accounting and two master’s degrees in health administration from Louisiana State University-Shreveport. She is currently the Business Manager at the Department of Pediatrics at Louisiana State University Health Shreveport, where she has worked for the past 12 years. In 1986, Goodin became involved with the Independence Bowl, first serving as the game’s official mascot “LeGeneral” and then as the Bowl’s Chairwoman in 2009. She continues to serve on the board as a lifetime member.
Goodin’s involvement with the NFF began in 2000 when she joined the S.M. McNaughton chapter in Shreveport, and she became part of the chapter’s board of directors as secretary in 2005. Goodin is the glue that holds the chapter together, and she plays an instrumental role in the success of the annual Scholar-Athlete Banquet. Each year the chapter recognizes 11 standout scholar-athletes from the Shreveport area and distributes $5,000 in scholarships. In addition to her efforts with the local chapter, Goodin serves as a member of the NFF Chapter Council that helps select the National High School Scholar-Athlete Award winners.
“Being a part of such an amazing organization on the local and national level is a great honor and privilege” said Goodin. “Football has long been a passion of mine and being able to help young student-athletes pursue a college education is truly an honor.”
A devoted LSU Tiger and Dallas Cowboys fan, Goodin and her husband Bill enjoy spending time with their dogs Abigail & Buster.
