King County/Seattle Chapter

With the advice and support of Jim Owens, former University of Washington football coach, the Seattle/King County Chapter was established in 1966 to honor local high school football scholars. After years of growth, our chapter now includes 65 high schools located in King and Kitsap Counties. In the fall, these schools nominate one back and one lineman to attend our annual Scholar-Athlete Banquet on the University of Washington campus. Four backs and four linemen are chosen as finalists for scholarships.

The chapter enjoys a great relationship with the Seattle Seahawks and each year the banquet is held in the West Club Lounge at Qwest Field.

Chapter president Walt Hunt played fullback on the 1984 University of Washington Huskie team that finished the season 11-1 and No. 2 in the nation following a victory over Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl.
