National Football Foundation

The chapter serves San Diego and Imperial Counties, which have a combined population of more than 3.5 million. The chapter's region is the second-largest CIF section in California.

This year, 26 of the area's best and brightest high school and college Scholar-Leader football players were honored at a banquet attended by 300 guests. The event is one of the region's most prestigious athletic and academic functions. In 2026, Carson Diehl was selected as the Walter J. Zable Player of the Year. He is listed on the Western Region's Team of Distinction on the NFF's national website, and he is honored in a display at the NFF College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.

The chapter's co-founder and College Football Hall of Fame Gold Medal recipient, Walter J. Zable, earned the honor of having the chapter named after him through his unwavering support of the National Football Foundation.
