Montana Chapter

The Montana Chapter plays a major role in Montana promoting the game of football, and the Foundation and College Hall of Fame. Foundation brochures are given to all head football coaches at Summer Rules Clinics and the chapter sends information to all coaches in Montana regarding the NFL Coaches Essay Contest. We also advertise our chapter every fall during the telecast of the Montana State-Montana Cross State Football Game -- one of the oldest rivalries in America. Another project we are very proud of is our awarding of funds from the NFL Grant program tour seven Native American Reservation Schools that sponsor football at the high school level.

Our major event is our Scholar-Athlete Banquet held annually in Helena in April. We honor twelve students from universities, colleges and high schools. Honorees are given sizeable scholarships from one of Montana's quality corporations and the chapter invites a nationally renowned football personality every year as a speaker. Past speakers include Gen. Bill Carpenter, College Football's famous "Lonesome End" from the 1960's; Mac Bledsoe, Drew Bledsoe's father and motivational speaker; John Gagliardi, College Football's all -time wining coach; and John Ralston, the only college coach to win two consecutive Rose Bowl Championships.
