Of the 106 high schools located in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, there are four classifications, based on school enrollment, that divide these schools into competing All-Star teams. The National Football Foundation Chapters in Nassau and Suffolk Counties sponsor two games — large school vs. large school (Nassau vs. Suffolk) and small school vs. small school (Nassau vs. Suffolk). One game is held the night before Thanksgiving at Hofstra University and the other is held on Thanksgiving morning at Stony Brook University. Both games are televised on local cable television.
The Nassau County Chapter holds an annual golf outing each spring for all of its members, usually in April. The chapter also opened an NFF Long Island Hall of Fame in conjunction with the Suffolk County Chapter, honoring those who have played or mentored in the community.
