National Football Foundation

The Schuylkill Chapter was the 25th chapter chartered by the National Football Foundation, and in 2011, the chapter held its 50th scholar-athlete banquet. Under the outstanding leadership of president Dave Holley, the chapter is closely aligned with the area high schools and has become a recognized presence in Schuylkill County football with its annual banquet. 

Since the first banquet in 1962, the chapter has recognized outstanding scholar-athletes from 15 school districts. Annually, over 450 people attend the affair and each of the 15 award recipients receives a $100 scholarship along with a blue blazer with the National Football Foundation and College Hall Of Fame logo. Of the group of 15, one is chosen as the Schuylkill County Scholar-Athlete of the Year and receives a $1,000 scholarship. Additionally, championship head coaches are recognized for outstanding seasons. 

A unique aspect of the Schuylkill Chapter banquet is the recognition of all past scholar-athletes as well as inviting promising freshman who have exhibited the qualities that the chapter promotes; (1) Outstanding football ability and performance, (2) Outstanding academic application and performance, (3) Outstanding school leadership and citizenship.
