SALT LAKE CITY – Two-time Super Bowl Champion and former University of Utah linebacker
George Seifert and former Hunter High, Snow College and University of Utah and current Minnesota Viking running back
Matt Asiata will headline the 21st annual Utah Chapter of the National Football Foundation banquet to be held on Tuesday, April 14, at the Utah Community Credit Union Events Center on the campus of Utah Valley University.
Asiata joins a long list of Who’s Who among great football players in the State of Utah and will be recognized with the Distinguished American Award. Past award winners include College Football Hall of Famer and 1983 NFF National Scholar-Athlete
Steve Young (BYU),
Eric Weddle (Utah),
Haloti Ngata (Oregon),
Kevin Curtis (Utah State) and many others. Asiata comes off a breakout season where he rushed for 570 yards and nine touchdowns for the Vikings and has recently signed a one-year contract extension with the club.
Seifert, who guided the San Francisco 49ers to 1990 and 1995 Super Bowl victories, will be honored and recognized with the Outstanding Contribution to Amateur Football.

Jerre Holmes and former official
Phil Leonard who will both be honored with the Outstanding Service to Amateur Football in Utah awards. In addition, the Board of Directors announced their annual scholar-athlete winners.
Scholar-athlete recipients of the prestigious award range from Roy High School from the North to Dixie High School from the South.

This impressive list includes three state MVPs (Takau, 3A, Covey 4A, and Kafentzis, 5A); 14 2014 first team All-State Selections in the Deseret News and Salt Lake Tribune; and a combined GPA of 3.92, with four of the 14 achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA for their high school career. The Board will also recognize more than 20 Junior Scholar-Athletes who were nominated by their respective coaches as the top Junior Student-Athletes this year. The Junior award winners will be recognized with a Pin and will certainly be among those considered for the Senior award next year.
