Arnold A. Galiffa spent his first season with Army as an understudy to Arnold Tucker. Then he spent three years as the starting quarterback. In his four years the Army record was 9-0-1, 5-2-2, 8-0-1, 9-0-0. His best plays as a forward passer were against Washington and Lee in 1947, 73 yards; against Pennsylvania in 1948, 40 yards (winning the game with 30 seconds left); and against Columbia in 1949, 83 yards. He was All-America in 1949. After finishing at West Point, Galiffa served in the Korean War. He played pro football with the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers, 1953-54. Galiffa was born January 29, 1927, in Donora, Pennsylvania; he died from cancer in September, 1978.
