Dick Wildung was a three-year starter at tackle for Minnesota, and was on national championship teams in 1940 and 1941. He made All-America in 1941 and 1942 and was Minnesota's Most Valuable Player in 1942. He played in the East-West Shrine Game and College All-Star Game. Wildung was born August 16, 1921, in Soctland, SD. He grew up in Scotland, S. Dakota, where his father had a grocery store. At the University of Minnesota, he was the right tackle, 6-0, weighing 215 pounds. Minnesota's record in his three years was 8-0, 8-0, 5-4. He was a Navy lieutenant in World War II, then played tackle for the Green Bay Packers 1946-1951 and 1953. When his football days ended, he ran a hardware business in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Wildung was a leader; he captained his college team in 1942, was co-captain of his team in the East-West Shrine Game, and was captain of the Green Bay Packer four years.
