A three-time All-American, Frank Sheptock became an instant force as linebacker for the Bloomsburg Huskies. As a freshman, he was named to the Pennsylvania State Athletic all-conference team, the first of four such selections. While playing inside linebacker he patrolled the field from sideline to sideline using his strength, quickness, agility and flawless technique. Before his arrival, Bloomsburg experienced a winless season and in his freshman year only won one contest. But by his junior year Frank?s play helped lead the team to a tie for the conference crown. In his senior year the squad went through the regular season undefeated and played in the NCAA Division II semifinals. Frank holds school records for career tackles with his high game of 23 stops occurring in the 1985 national semifinal contest. While honors came early and often for Sheptock, he never rested on his accomplishments. ?I always set high goals for myself and look to get better every year,? said Sheptock after his first All-America section. Aside from recognition from the outside, perhaps his greatest tribute came from his teammates who named him a co-captain for three seasons. Coach George Landis put it succinctly, ?Frank?s a get it done player.? He was named to the school?s Hall of Fame in 1997, one year after beginning a successful collegiate coaching career.
