Bob Pellegrini was born Nov. 13, 1934, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He attended Shannock Valley High School and played on the football team alternately at these positions: end, tackle, guard, center and fullback. He enrolled at the University of Maryland, where the coach, Jim Tatum, made him a center. He also played linebacker. Maryland's record was 27-4-1 in Pellegrini's three varsity years. Maryland's ranking in the Associated Press poll was No. 1 in 1953, No 8 in 1954, No. 3 in 1955. Pellegrini stood 6-2 in height and weighed 225. In 1955 he was unanimous All-America at center and won the Jacobs Trophy as the best blocker in the Atlantic Coast Conference. He played in the 1956 College All-Star Game and was named the college team's Most Valuable Player. Pellegrini played pro with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1956 and 1958-61 and with the Washington Redskins 1962-65. In 1957 he served in the U.S. Army. After his playing days, he served as assistant coach with the Miami Dolphins.
