An inspirational field leader, Bob Fisher was the core of the Harvard line in the pioneer days of football when the Crimson and arch rival Yale dominated the game. He was big at 206 pounds, quick and aggressive. The Harvard lineman dominated the talent at his position and drew Walter Camp's first-team honors in both 1910 and 1911. During the 1909 campaign, sophomore Fisher helped the Crimson win eight of nine games, the only blemish coming in an 8-0 loss to Yale. The Elis ruined another bid for perfection the following year when they forced a scoreless deadlock which left Harvard at 8-0-1. Fisher captained the 7-1-1 Harvard club as a senior. Nineteen of the 23 victories over Fisher's three years were shutouts, including eight during the 1910 campaign when Harvard scored 155 points while allowing only five.
